Welcome back to the Mark Casto program where we don't tiptoe around religion, we tear it down, and we don't romanticize the grind. We break it off of people's lives. And this episode is going to be a holy interruption to the lie that's kept the body of Christ small, broke and afraid. We're going after the fear of money, and I'm going to show you why this fear is costing us impact. It's costing us freedom and especially generational legacy. So if you've ever felt guilty about wanting to earn more, if you've ever under charged because you just want to help, or if you've avoided building wealth because of what church people might say. This episode is for you, we're going to talk about today why most Christians are afraid of money, and why that's a real problem. Now let's just get real money makes most Christians uncomfortable. It's the topic that we dance around with a bunch of spiritual language. And honestly, we talk about tithing, we talk about giving, but we rarely talk about earning, creating, multiplying. But here's the truth, you can't feed the poor with good intentions. You can't fund the local church and the outpouring of the Spirit with empty pockets, you can't dig wells and build hospitals in foreign countries without money. You can't build generational legacy if you're bound by paycheck to paycheck monthly survival plan. And yet, we've spiritualized our struggle with money like it's a virtue. So you know what we do? We say things like, I don't even care about money, or I just want to be humble, or I don't need much, just enough to get by how extremely selfish we are with that last statement. But what if I told you that language is not humility, it's fear, it's programming, and it's keeping the people of God from taking ground and creating the atmosphere of on earth as it is in heaven. So where did this fear of money come from? Well, I can tell you one thing, it did not start with Jesus. It came from misquoted verses, traditions over truth, and then the generational trauma that people experienced and disguised it as wisdom. Guys just just
Unknown Speaker 2:35
starting with the twisting of Scripture. How many times have we been told over the years? Well, you know, money's the root of all evil. Well, when Paul wrote that verse to Timothy, in First Timothy six, verse 10, he didn't say that money was the root of all evil. He said, the love of money is the issue. Guys, Jesus, nor the Apostle Paul or the early church, were anti wealthy. They were anti idolatry. And that's a big difference, because one Jesus looks at money as a tool, but there is the propensity that when people start getting wealthy, that they go from having wealth to wealth having them. And that's where we go from
Unknown Speaker 3:18
stepping into wealth being a tool and wealth being idolatry. So Jesus wasn't anti wealth, he was anti idolatry. So then you take people twisting scripture over the years, and then we add religious tradition to that, and somewhere along the way, the church started teaching that holiness equals poverty or holiness equals the struggle. And people started turning poverty into piety, and they turned financial apathy into spiritual maturity. But guys, when you open the Bible, God's people weren't just survivors, they were stewards. I mean, look at the life of Abraham. Abraham had extraordinary wealth, if you look at the story of Joseph, he managed a national economy. If you look at the Proverbs, 31 woman, she runs a full product line. And then if you look at Paul, Paul, he was a tent maker to create wealth, but he also raised offerings for church plants, because ministry can only happen, really happen when there's resources and funds behind it, because ministry is ministering to people's needs, and that goes beyond the heart and goes beyond the mind, and there's actual carnal things that goes with the ministry, which is why Jesus had donors and he even had a treasurer. Why? Because money is not a curse. It's a tool, and in the hands of the righteous, it's a weapon. It's really an awesome tool to build on earth as it is in heaven. Matter of fact, the Scripture says in Deuteronomy, 818, and I'm going to say this verse probably on.
Unknown Speaker 5:00
Every episode of this podcast, when I talk about money, the Scripture says, Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to create wealth that he might establish His covenant in the earth. So a part of God's idea of how his covenant is actually manifested on the earth is through people like you and I saying yes to the power that God has given us to create wealth. So it's clearly there in that one verse you need wealth to establish God's Coven in the earth. Now let's just jump into it, because you hear me use the word poverty, and you're gonna hear me bring that up a lot. Okay, let me help you continually define what I mean when I say a poverty mindset. And I also want to help you identify how you know you're operating with a poverty mindset. Here's a big one for business owners. You feel bad charging what your work is worth, you automatically assume that wealth will corrupt you, and you will say things like, I'm not in this for the money, as if money is the enemy. You under earn because you over identify with the struggle. And then there are many of you listening to this right now that you resist prosperity while praying for provision, but let's make it plain. A poverty mindset doesn't honor God, it limits him, and he's ready to break that lie off of your life today. Now let's take this a little bit deeper and talk about the truth about Jesus and money. So one question Was Jesus poor? No, well, first of all, just look at his birth. He had three kings, three wise men that had groups of people with them. It wasn't just three men. They had entire groups that were traveling with them. And they loaded Joseph and Mary down to honor the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Jesus, the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger, they unloaded wealth upon him and his family also. Jesus had a treasurer. His name was Judas. He took care of all the money. He also wore a seamless robe. And you and you know this because at the Cross they were gambling over his robe. Why? Because a seamless robe was actually a luxury clothing item in that day. If you look at Luke chapter eight, he was funded by very wealthy women, and also Jesus spoke more about money than he did about prayer in heaven combined. Why? Because Jesus knew what it represented. Jesus didn't carry lack. He carried purposeful provision. That's something that you guys need to hear. Wealth is for the purposes of purposeful provision. And so Jesus taught stewardship. He taught multiplication, and because of the issue of money, he taught trust, guys. Jesus, yes, some of you are listening to this right now, and you're like, Well, Mark Jesus flipped over tables because of money. No, he flipped tables over greed, not because of money. Okay, so why are we still defending lack like it's a sign of righteousness? Now let me interrupt this episode real quick to ask you something really, really important. What if you didn't have to trade your time for money anymore? What if the wisdom and experiences God's given you could become the foundation of a thriving digital business that lets you live with freedom, impact and purpose, guys, that's exactly why I created the wise builders business community. Now,
Unknown Speaker 9:35
let's talk about this
Unknown Speaker 9:37
Deuteronomy, 818, I've already mentioned it once, but I want to remind you of it again.
Unknown Speaker 9:44
It's a verse that we've ignored for way too long.
Unknown Speaker 9:47
Deuteronomy, 818, says, but remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to create wealth that he might establish.
Unknown Speaker 10:00
His covenant in the earth. It didn't say the power to pray for wealth. It didn't say the patience to wait for wealth. It says the power to create it. That means products, that means coaching, that means courses, that means community systems, solutions to global problems. Guys, you're not waiting on wealth to drop into your lap. There's so many people that I feel like prey just believing money is going to fall in the sky. Guys, Heaven is Waiting for you to activate what's already in your hands, in your heart and in your head. Now why does the kingdom need find like need financially free believers? Well, let's talk about why this matters, guys, if we want to fund churches, if we want to end poverty cycles, if we want to rescue people out of sex trafficking and rescue children, if we want to have influence in the culture, if we want to own land, build businesses and leave a legacy. We need finances, guys. We need kingdom, entrepreneurs who are pure in heart, who are strategic in their thinking, who are bold in their execution, and are free from guilt and rise up in the full authenticity of who God has created them to be, to be Kingdom entrepreneurs and guys, money in the hands of the righteous will establish righteousness in the earth. That's just the bottom line. Like money is amoral, it's not immoral, it's amoral, which means it is neither good nor evil. It is a tool, though, that can be used for good and evil based upon whose hands that it's in. So guys, we need money in the hands of the righteous to do good things on the earth. Okay, now let's make a practical shift here. Okay, and let's what to do next. Here's how to begin your mind shift today. First of all, we need to repent. The word repent doesn't mean to snot and cry around at an altar at a church. The word repent is metanoia, and it means to change the way that we think. And one of the things that we need to change the way that we think about is us glorifying lack. It's not holy. It's not helping you, and it certainly can't make you a blessing to other people. Secondly, you need to start speaking the word over your finances. Proverbs, 1022, says this, The blessing of the Lord makes us rich, and he adds no sorrow to it. Start speaking Deuteronomy, 818, God gives you the power to create wealth. Speak Psalm 112, verse three, wealth and riches are in my house. You need to start learning how to speak the powerful word of God over your finances. Thirdly, you need to just flat. Dog. Know how money works. Guys, if you're called to build, if you're called to understand, you need to learn marketing, you need to learn digital products, you need to learn business, you need to learn how to sell. And guys, you can do all of that without all of Babylon slimy tactics. You can do it from a place of integrity and serving others. Fourthly, this is something that I need so many believers to hear. You need to learn how to invest in yourself, stop being afraid to sow into your own personal growth. You're not buying hype, guys. You're stewarding not just your destiny, but investing in yourself is ensuring generational legacy. Guys, I'm sitting here telling you on this podcast, I have paid three different coaches to build the business that I have today, and every time I made an investment in a coach, it always multiplied a return in my business, always guys. We need to be investing in ourselves. We need to be buying books and upgrading our thinking. We need to be buying courses. We need to hire coaches. We need to submit to mentors. We need to give to spiritual fathers and invest in ourselves. It's crucial.
Unknown Speaker 14:23
But number five, we need to build something. It's time your course, your brand, your program, your solution. It's not just a good idea that's stuck in your brain. It's a kingdom assignment. It's wisdom. God given wisdom that God has placed in you, and it's time to do something about it now. Just say this. If this episode shook you in a good way, share it, because poverty thinking doesn't leave until we confront it with truth. And if you're ready to build something powerful, if you're tired of paycheck to paycheck.
